Solskjaer aims a dig at United’s fringe players

Manchester United FC have failed to clear the deadwood even this summer, as the club have only sold player this transfer window. It has been reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been reportedly frustrated with the fact that the club have failed to capitalize on the market this summer. In his press conference, Solskjaer was visibly frustrated when he was asked about United’s fringe players.

United have several fringe players that aren’t, reportedly, in Solskjaer’s plans for the future at United. Players like Smalling, Rojo, Jones, Dalot, Pereira and Romero are down Solskjaer’s pecking order and the manager doesn’t want them in the squad anymore. Some of these players have also been linked to moves away from Old Trafford, with Romero being eyed by Everton and Smalling a target for AS Roma but United have failed to agree on moves for the fringe players.

In his latest interview, Solskjaer said: “Players are happy when they play well and win games. It’s not my job to keep them happy. My job is to pick players to get results. It’s up to them to be fit, to work hard and be ready when called upon.”

Here Solskjaer has taken a jibe at his fringe players and also the United board for not being able to sell them.

With only nine days left in the transfer window, United will have to make some serious moves in the transfer window to have any chance of winning silverware.
