Solskjaer Believes Manchester United Are Getting Better

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that the Red Devils are “improving and evolving” despite a rather underwhelming start to the new season.

The 20 time League champions will face a tough test when Unai Emery’s Arsenal visits Old Trafford on Monday. The Gunners are also experiencing mixed fortunes of late but in a much more entertaining fashion.

On the other hand, Solskjaer’s team are struggling to find goals on a regular basis and have not scored more than once in all competitions since the opening day of the Premier League when they beat rivals Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford.

United have a few injury concerns with some key players as forwards Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are suffering respective thigh and groin problems while French midfielder Paul Pogba could also miss the Arsenal encounter after suffering from a swollen ankle on his return against Rochdale in the League Cup.

It was a far from a convincing performance against the League One side Rochdale as United needed penalties to defeat their opponents at home after the score ended 1-1 at the full-time whistle. West Ham United also overcame the Red Devils at the London Stadium last week but having only squeaked past Astana 1-0 in the Europa League the previous week Solskjaer is confident that his team is improving and he does not have any issues with his player’s effort in training.

In a recent press conference, the 46-year-old Norwegian said, “For me, it’s a team improving and evolving, it’s a young team, the culture is there. I see them every single day in training and we don’t have any issues with attitude or work rate or desire. Now, it’s can we trust ourselves? Can we find that little bit of composure? You can see against Astana and Rochdale that the boys want to impress and want to do well. Maybe they rush the finish at times but it’s getting there.”
