Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has asked for the Manchester United supporters to show patience with his long-term plans for the club as he prepares for a tough week ahead.
The Red half of Manchester has won only three of their opening 13 Premier League matches since their promising 4-0 victory over West London club Chelsea on the opening weekend of the campaign.
And now United could slide into the bottom half of the table if Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur leave Old Trafford with all three points following Wednesday’s encounter.
It has been quite a disastrous start for the Red Devils this season as they are unable to neither muster up the results nor put in the performances which are desired by the fans. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under heavy criticism over the last few weeks and his job is on the line but the 46-year-old has claimed that the fans he has spoken to understand the need to look beyond middling recent results.
While speaking to reporters ahead of the crunch game against North London giants Tottenham Hotspur, Solskjaer explained why the fans need to be patient, “For me, I can just go on the evidence of the game days and supporters I’ve met. There are not many I’ve met that say: ‘You’ve got to do something different. They can see what we’re trying to do. They know there’s a lot of work being done behind the scenes – putting culture into the team, what we’re trying to do here, with what’s happening here at Carrington. We just need results that are the evidence for us. I just know I have a set of values and beliefs. The club has values and beliefs and I know that we have made these decisions together.
