Solskjaer confirms doubts over Victor Lindelof’s availability for Wolves clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that Victor Lindelof could be in line to miss Manchester United’s upcoming Premier League fixture against top-half opponents Wolves as the Swedish international defender nurses a recurring back issue.

Lindelof had featured during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw on Saturday away at Leicester City, with the centre-back slotting in at the right side of the defence owing to the absence of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Having been withdrawn at half-time, some doubts had emerged over Lindelof’s injury situation as the Red Devils play hosts to Wolves in the midweek fixture list of English top-flight football.

Speaking to reporters following his side’s latest league game, Solskjaer expressed concerns over Lindelof’s availability for the forthcoming matches, with the latest of them being the high-flying Wolves side paying a visit to Old Trafford.

“Yeah he’s struggling with his back,” he told BT Sport, as quoted by Manchester Evening News.

“He’s struggled for a little while. We might have to do something. Let’s see what it is.”

“His back again I think, so we’ll just have to assess that one before Wolves. Then again, Eric is fit now, Axel is fit now, so of course we might have to look at that one again.”

The return of long-term absentee Eric Bailly to the first-team fold in Solskjaer’s side brings about some much-neede relief for the Red Devils on the injury front, however, if Lindelof’s back injury turns out to be a prolonged layoff, the Manchester United boss is bound to feel anxious over his star defender’s sidelining.
