Solskjaer Confirms That Pogba Is Staying At Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that midfield talisman Paul Pogba will remain at the club despite the ongoing interest from several other clubs across the European continent.

The Red Devils suffered another poor result in the Premier League on Saturday as they drew 1-1 against south coast club Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium. The new season has not gone the way it was expected as United have claimed just five points out of a possible 12 after four games in the Premier League.

But there was another thing that United fans were hoping would turn out to be good news and it seems that Paul Pogba will remain at Old Trafford this summer following speculations that he will join Real Madrid during the transfer window. The French midfielder has indicated that he wants to play under Zinedine Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu but a move to Real Madrid has been ruled out by Solskjaer.

With the transfer window ending on September 2nd, the Los Blancos may have hoped to make one last-ditch attempt to sign Pogba but Solskjaer admitted that the 26-year-old is integral to United. After the 1-1 draw against Southampton, the 46-year-old Norwegian said that Pogba wasn’t really playing to his best but will still play his football for the red side of Manchester.

Solskjaer explained, “I think we as a team after about half an hour started giving sloppy balls away and Paul was one of them, He wasn’t any different to anyone else, we as a team didn’t play well but in the last 20 minutes or half an hour he did create loads for us going forward. Everyone expects everything from him every game, he has to defend, he has to attack, he has to win headers, he has to dribble past people, he has to make passes. That’s just Paul and he’ll thrive on that. Paul Pogba will be playing for us.”
