Solskjaer Could Be Sacked If Liverpool Thrash Manchester United

According to the latest reports, Manchester United could sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if the Red Devils suffer a humiliating defeat against fierce rivals Liverpool on 20th October.

After enduring their worst ever start in the Premier League, Manchester United sit in 12th place in the Premier League table with just two wins in eight games on nine points. The Red Devils are also struggling for goals failing to score more than one goal in a game ever since their 4-0 opening day thrashing of Chelsea in the Premier League.

United needed penalties to see off League Two opponents Rochdale in the Carabao Cup and are still unable to assert their effectiveness in the style of football that is being played. Norwegian boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under heavy scrutiny over the past few months due to poor results as well as the poor performances.

The 46-year-old has not shown any real scope of improvement ever since getting the job on a permanent basis and Solskjaer’s job might be on the line next weekend against Liverpool. Reports claim that although Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward is willing to give Solskjaer the backing for the long term future at Old Trafford, he had a few concerns in the manner that United lost the game against Newcastle United this weekend.

Liverpool is in fine form at the moment as they have won 17 Premier League games in a row continuing their impressive start to the new season. But the Reds do not have a great record on their travels to the red side of Manchester off late and United will be hoping to get one over their fierce rivals.

Last year Jose Mourinho was sacked by Woodward after the Portuguese manager suffered a 3-1 loss against Liverpool and a humiliating defeat could put Solskjaer’s job under further jeopardy.
