Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained that ace midfielder Paul Pogba was not ready to face Burnley after sitting out the 2-0 Premier League victory at Turf Moor.
The World Cup-winning French midfielder was a notable absentee as the Red Devils saw off Sean Dyche’s Burnley on Saturday to move into fifth place on the League table just one point behind Chelsea in the fourth spot.
Pogba made an appearance on the pitch for the first time in nearly three months when United lost to the bottom of the table outfit Watford 2-0 last week at Vicarage Road and he made another substitute appearance in the 4-1 rout against Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
However, the 26-year-old did not travel to Turf Moor this weekend and Solskjaer explained Pogba’s absence after goals from Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford earned the 20 time League champions three points.
While speaking to reporters, the United manager explained that Pogba still wasn’t feeling right and therefore the club will have to wait for him to get ready, “He had 45 minutes but he’s been out for a while and he didn’t feel right. He reacted to that one so we’ll just have to take our time and get him ready for next time.
Solskjaer further went on to state that Pogba may need a day to recover after being out for such a long time and making another appearance “When you’ve been out for such a while, it’s always going to take time to be 100 percent. He just needed another day probably of recovery.”
United fans will be hoping that Pogba returns to the starting line up as soon as possible because his ability and quality will be able to get the Red Devils over the line in imperative games.
