Manchester United were in the lookout of a centre-forward this summer transfer window even after signing Odion Ighalo in January. The Red Devils only signed a centre-forward in the last hours of the transfer deadline day, signing Edinson Cavani. After Cavani’s signing for Manchester United, Solskjaer, in his talk with Manchester United’s Official Website said what he expected from the Uruguayan and how happy he was to have him.
The signing of Edinson Cavani is seen in good regards, as Cavani is a world-class striker with a proven track record. The only problem that might come into play is his age, Cavani is 33-years old and hasn’t played competitive football for months. The Premier League is surely one of the toughest leagues to come into, but it will be expected of Cavani to settle down quickly.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was happy with Cavani’s signing and said: “Edinson is an experienced ultimate professional who always gives everything for his team. His goalscoring record for club and country is fantastic and we are delighted to sign a player of his caliber.”
The Uruguayan will probably play second fiddle to Anthony Martial but might have his United debut in a couple of weeks with Martial’s suspension.
The signing of Edinson Cavani will give the United side depth and quality in the attacking department and if all goes right, this should be a good signing for the Red Devils.
