Solskjaer Opens Up On Rashford Injury

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that Marcus Rashford is staying positive as he aims for a safe return from a back injury which could keep him out of action for a while.

The English forward Rashford is set to miss at least six weeks of footballing after suffering a stress fracture in his lower back during United’s FA Cup victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday.

The 22-year old’s injury leaves the Red Devils without their leading goalscorer and attacking talisman, as Rashford has already netted 19 goals across all competitions for the club so far this season.

When asked by reporters to provide an update on Rashford ahead of United’s encounter with Burnley at Old Trafford, Solskjaer said that the young prolific attacker is still in good spirits, though could put no definitive timescale on his return to the first-team squad.

The Norwegian manager explained that Rashford will be out for a while but the Englishman is still keeping up in good spirits in the hope for a speedy recovery, “He won’t be fit for this game, for sure. He’ll be out for a while, he’ll get the time he needs to recover, Marcus is good, he’s a positive guy and he knows this is not what he wanted but he’s always positive. He wants to get back as quickly as possible but as safely as possible, so we’ll give him that time and when he feels ready and medically we’ve cleared him, he’ll be back.”

The most recent reports suggested that Rashford had been playing through the pain of a single stress fracture for some time prior to aggravating the issue in the game against Wolves and therefore the backroom staff has come under some criticism as well.
