Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised the likes of Dean Henderson and Donny Van de Beek for their performances against Aston Villa in the pre-season friendly. Manchester United played their only pre-season game against Villa and ended up losing the game with a score of 1-0. Henderson and Van de Beek were the only bright stars for United last night and Solskjaer has praised both his players.
United have made only signing in Donny Van de Beek and have also given a new long-term contract to Dean Henderson. Solskjaer, in his chat with MUTV, after the game said: “Donny was maybe the biggest plus in the outfield. He’s such a finder of space and he creates time for himself with his timing and movement. I was very happy with his performance.”
He also praised the United academy graduates Dean Henderson and Tenden Mengi. Solskjaer added “There were some positives as well, some good positives like individual performances – I thought Deano showed his authority back there and he played like a proper Man United goalkeeper. And especially in the second half, you saw Teden (Mengi) when he came on, how exciting a prospect he is.”
United’s loss against Villa will not bother Solskjaer a lot, as most of the Red Devils’ first-team player didn’t feature in the game. And the emergence of youngsters will be a boost for the club as well.
