Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that United midfielder Donny van de Beek isn’t happy about the amount of game time he has been receiving at the club.
Donny joined Man United last summer from Ajax where he was their key player. It was touted as a very promising transfer and Solskjaer needed the young Dutch midfielder in his squad.
But the player has been hard getting some game-time at the club and has been kept on the bench most of the time. In UCL, he never gets the chance to start for the team and also in the Premier League. Many expected Solskjaer to give Van de Beek a start in the EFL matches, but he was again left disappointed.
He was linked with a loan move to Everton last summer but Solskjaer blocked the move and stated that Van de Beek is a part of his plans. But now the manager has revealed that the Dutch midfielder is unhappy with the way he is getting treated at Manchester United.
As reported by the Mirror, he said:
“Donny is still working hard, of course, and at the moment it’s hard. I understand Donny is frustrated, he’s disappointed, but he keeps on working every day with a big smile.‘I know he’s not happy, but he works hard, and he’s a top professional. He knows that that’s the way that sometimes it works in football, at the moment he’s not playing, but he doesn’t let himself down…He keeps training well, and I enjoy having him there, and I hope for him that he gets his chances.”
It seems that the upcoming transfer window in the month of January will be Donny van de Beek’s best chance to leave the club. He is still young and at this age, needs to go to a team like Borussia Dortmund in order to play regularly and discover his full potential.
Solskjaer will certainly not block a move this time as he understands Donny’s frustration.
