Solskjaer reveals which former Red Devils teammate would he pick to include in the current United squad

Manchester United FC manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed which former teammate of his playing career at Old Trafford would he choose to include in the current Manchester United FC side that he manages. Speaking in an interview to the Shiv Nadar Foundation, Solskjaer stated that despite being asked to name only one such former teammate of his, he would have to include two, with the players being former midfielders of the Red Devils, Roy Keane and Paul Scholes.

Solskjaer said that in the process of choosing Keane and Scholes as the players he would field in the current Red Devils squad, leaving out former Manchester United FC talisman and one of the world’s greatest players Cristiano Ronaldo was very unfair towards the Juventus forward. However, the Norwegian manager has termed the midfield duo of Keane and Scholes, who played together for the Red Devils for many years, as unbelievable.

Solskjaer was a part of the treble-winning squad of Manchester United FC in 1999 under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The Red Devils faced Bayern Munich in the Champions League final at the Camp Nou. The United FC squad were without Scholes and Keane in the final due to the suspension received by the players. However, the Red Devils gave their best on the pitch and came through with a 2-1 victory after extra time with Solskjaer scoring the decisive goal. The goal scored by him etched his name into Manchester United FC history and made him a hero among the fans of the Premier League side.

Claiming Roy Keane to be one of the best players he had played alongside during his playing career, Solskjaer said that the influence Keane had on the Red Devils squad as the side’s captain was fantastic. Solskjaer was hired as the Manchester United FC manager upon the sacking of Jose Mourinho in 2018 and has been on the helm ever since.

The Red Devils were unbeaten in 11 of their previous games before the suspension of the current Premier League season and Solskjaer will be hoping that his side can continue the same form in order to qualify for next seasons UEFA Champions League.
