Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained that Sheffield United “wanted it more than us” during the pulsating 3-3 draw in the Premier League at Bramall Lane this Sunday.
The Red Devils were largely poor for major parts of the game against Chris Wilder’s side and found themselves 2-0 down after 52 minutes courtesy of goals from John Fleck and Lys Mousset either side of half time.
However, three goals in seven minutes from Brandon Williams, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford looked like the visitors would secure an undeserved victory for, but Scottish forward Oli McBurnie struck in the final minute of the game to ensure that both teams share a point.
While speaking to Sky Sports and reporters after the game, the 46-year-old Solskjaer admitted that his opponents at the weekend wanted a result more than his own team, “It’s not something you can put your finger on here and now, but they looked like they wanted it more than us, they believed in what they did more than us, but sometimes it’s little margins here and there.”
The red half of Manchester now dropped to ninth spot on the Premier League table but Solskjaer can take positives that his side managed to come back from 2-0 down to reverse the result until a lapse in concentration late on in the game that ensured both teams to share the spoils.
