Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sent out a warning to super-agent Mino Raiola that Paul Pogba belongs to Manchester United and not to the outspoken Dutchman amid ongoing doubts over the star’s future at Old Trafford.
Raiola cast fresh doubts over his client’s future as Pogba is still currently recovering from an ankle injury as he said that the talismanic United midfielder “would not mind” returning to Juventus as “Italy is like home” for the midfield ace.
Pogba left United for Juventus back in 2012 but the 26-year-old World Cup winner was prized back at Old Trafford in 2016 for a then-world record transfer fee of €105million (£89.3m).
Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid have also been linked to signing Pogba at the Santiago Bernabeu but United manager Solskjaer explained that Pogba is a player of Manchester United and not for the Italian agent, “I’ve not spoken to Mino that is for sure. And, no, I haven’t sat down and told Paul to tell Mino what he should say. Paul is our player and not Mino’s.”
The 46-year-old was then asked if he could conclusively say Pogba will play for United again this season and Solskjaer replied by saying that once the World Cup winner is fit and ready, he will return to the first team, “Well, of course, I’d like to say that. As soon as he gets fit he’ll be good enough to play for the team and I’m sure Paul’s desperate to play for us again.”
Pogba has featured in only five Premier League matches this season and the lack of game-time has put his position at the club in jeopardy.
