Manchester United, to everyone’s shock and amaze, defeated RB Leipzig with a score of 5-0 a couple of days ago. The Red Devils thrashed last season’s Champions League semifinalists and it was down to the tactical genius of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. In his recent post-match interview, Solskjaer has talked about the impact of Marcus Rashford on the game and the collective team effort in the win against Leipzig.
Marcus Rashford became only the second Manchester United to score a hattrick after coming on as a substitute. Solskjaer’s substitutions turned the game on its head as United ran riot in the last 20 minutes of the game. This is the third time Solskjaer has changed the game with his substitutions and is slowly but gradually making a name for himself.
In his recent post-match talk, Solskjaer said: “Spaces open up when you’re winning, of course, and we knew that today was a day that we had to rest a few because this season is relentless, so we could use the squad. This group is coming together, of course we’ve added a few quality players and the more quality you have and spirit you have, the better chance you have of a performance.”
Solskjaer has managed the squad very well with games coming up thick and fast in the Premier League and the Champions League. The international break has surely helped players become fitter and sharper which has helped Solskjaer chop and change systems and personnel. Manchester United will be expected to build from their victories in the Champions League.
