Manchester United cruised to victory last night against Istanbul Basaksehir as the Red Devils scored four past the Turkish club, at Old Trafford. As the game went on, Solskjaer made his changes, like he does in almost every game as he took Lindelof at half-time and Fernandes, Rashford and Wan-Bissaka later. In his post-game interview, Solskjaer has provided about the injury updates in the Manchester United squad.
It was earlier reported that Victor Lindelof had endured an injury to his back while playing against Everton. Even the Sweden national team manager was concerned about Lindelof’s fitness as he plays almost every minute for the Red Devils. The substitution of Wan-Bissaka was also shocking to see as the right-back generally completes every game.
In his interview, Solskjaer explained: “Hopefully they’ll be ready for the weekend but we’re not sure. It’s back problems for Victor and he had an ankle problem, Aaron, so there was no point taking any more chances and risking more swelling to it.” The Manchester United manager hopes that both the defenders will be available to play against Southampton in the Premier League.
Both Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka have been ever-present figures in the Manchester United starting lineup this season. The defenders have done really well and the Red Devils will surely miss them if both of them fail to prove their fitness before the weekend game in the Premier League.
