Paul Pogba has had a difficult start to the season, as the Frenchman has suffered a lot of on and off the field criticism. The World Cup winner is yet to fully show his potential at United this season after suffering from the coronavirus. In his recent pre-match press conference, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come out and re-instated the importance of Pogba in the Manchester United squad.
Pogba has done well for the French national team in the last couple of games, showing his discipline and class. Deschamps had earlier talked about Pogba’s situation at Manchester United, which wasn’t pleasing to hear for the United fans. But in his press conference, Solskjaer has again come out in support of his talismanic midfielder.
In the pre-match press conference, Solskjaer said: “I spoke to Paul and he certainly felt towards the end of the Portugal match and definitely towards the end of the Sweden game he felt stronger for it, he played well, they qualified, of course. I think he’s only going to improve. Paul is, as I’ve said, a very important player and a very important person for us and to have him in form and happy is going to be vital for the run that we can hopefully put together now.”
Solskjaer has time and again defended Pogba as he is one of his favourites in the Manchester United squad. But the Frenchman needs to perform in a United shirt to gain the faith of the fanbase, who have been waiting patiently for Pogba to shine. Against West Brom, Pogba has a chance to prove himself again as the visiting time is likely to give United most of the possession.
