Sporting Lisbon register interest in signing Manchester United rebel Cristiano Ronaldo

Sporting Lisbon have registered their interest in signing Manchester United rebel Cristiano Ronaldo in this summer’s transfer window, according to a report from the Independant.

Ronaldo is keen to call it quits at Old Trafford after a disastrous campaign last term but has been unable to find a viable suitor in the market with the likes of Chelsea and Atletico Madrid withdrawing from the race to sign the 37-year-old.

It is understood that Sporting have made an offer to the Red Devils camp of taking their former prodigy on a free transfer with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes hard at work this summer, on the lookout for potential options for his client.

Atletico remain interested in moving in for Ronaldo despite fears of backlash from their fans while United hope that a deal with the Spanish giants could aid their long-standing pursuit of Joao Felix.

United have been keeping tabs on a host of big-name attackers across Europe this summer with Ajax talisman Antony believed to be a priority target for the new head coach Eric ten Hag.
