Former Manchester United starlet Tahith Chong has backed manager Erik ten Hag to succeed at Old Trafford.
The Dutch gaffer was signed to bring back the glory days and the young winger believes that he can work out his magic at United. Chong had spent six years at the Red side of Manchester but he spent the majority of those years on loan at different clubs.
The 22-year-old had been loaned out to Birmingham City last season and he returned to the Championship side this season on a permanent basis. He has signed a four year deal worth £1.5 million.
The attacker was unable to grab game-time under Ten Hag and it made sense for him to look for pastures elsewhere. Chong will be joined by United wonderkid Hannibal Mejbri at Birmingham. The Tunisian star has signed for the new club on a loan deal.
The Dutch winger was never able to force his way in the starting XI under Ten Hag but he believes that the former Ajax manager has started to inculcate his philosophies within his United players.
As stated by the Manchester Evening News, the former United star said:
“I think it’s very good, from the last couple of games you see he is trying to bring a structure in – a Dutch kind of structure which is not bad. Hopefully they can continue on that path and keep improving. I think he will do well there but it will take time to really implement his structure and what he wants to bring – but I think in time he will.”
Ten Hag has been able to implement his style of play since stepping in as the new manager. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their past four league games and the team has started breaking records.
The club has rediscovered its winning momentum and the players have been training exceptionally well. However, the manager would need time and support from the board, and the fans. It’s just the start of something fruitful at Manchester United.
