The Premier League is only four games old but there is a growing concern that the current crop of Manchester United players is not good enough to take United back into the top four, we look at the signings United should make in January to take United into the top four:
Danny Rose
Luke Shaw and Ashley Young represent United’s current left-back options, Luke Shaw was seen as the successor to Patrice Evra for the left-back spot but his United career has been blighted by injuries and poor form, Ashley Young has done well at times but is a makeshift left-back at best, the converted winger was targeted by the fans after United’s poor form last season and he looks set to leave at the end of the season.
Danny Rose has had injury troubles at Spurs but when fully fit is one of the most exciting full-backs to watch, at 29 years of age he may not be a long term solution but United need players who can come straight into the team and perform. The England international was set to leave at the start of the season but Spurs did not receive any offers matching the asking price. With Spurs wanting to sell United just might be able to sign the player for a bargain fee of around 25 million pounds
Bruno Fernandes
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were linked with a move for Fernandes all summer long as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to add a midfielder to his squad following the loss of Ander Herrera. The creative midfielder scored 32 goals as he captained Sporting to Portuguese Cup glory and then helped his country become the inaugural Nations League champions. With United lacking creativity and goals from midfield, Bruno Fernandes is just the sort of player they need.
Declan Rice
United have played Scott McTominay in the holding role next to Pogba this season, while McTominay has performed well when given opportunities there is a sense that he may not be a ‘Manchester United player’. Declan Rice had a brilliant season last season and is a brilliant reader of the game, often mopping up attacks before they start. United may have to spend over 80 million pounds to convince West Ham to sell but Rice is exactly the type of player United need.
Arkadiusz Milik
Milik may not represent everyone’s first choice but is exactly the sort of striker United need, MIlik is a strong forward and as seen with all Ajax strikers, he is good with the ball at his feet and would be a perfect foil for Rashford and Martial to score goals regularly. Napoli has shown that they are willing to sell the forward if they can secure a replacement.
