Manchester United FC are battling Real Madrid for the signature of Lucas Ocampos, who plays for Spanish club Sevilla. The winger’s terrific performances this season have led to the two football giants in United and Madrid being interested in signing the player. Since moving to Sevilla, Ocampos has thrived for the Spanish side, scoring 12 goals and assisting thrice in 29 appearances. His dribbling ability has caught the eye of top European clubs vying for his signature.
Ocampos moved to Sevilla from the French side Olympique Marseille last summer for a reported sum of €15 million. The winger has a buyout clause of €70 million in his current contract with Sevilla, but with just one year remaining on his contract, the Spanish side are willing to listen to offers in the region of €40 million.
The Red Devils are keen to add to their attacking options ahead of next season, with the Premier League club involved in a race to sign highly-rated English winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. However, with Dortmund unwilling to part ways with Sancho for an offer less than €120 million, and United chief Ed Woodward is stating that any transfer offer in excess of that amount considering the financial downside of the coronavirus are not realistic, it seems that Manchester United FC may have hit a roadblock in their negotiations to sign Sancho. In such a case, Ocampos provides an ideal addition to the current Red Devils squad if Ole Gunner Solskjaer chooses to go ahead with the transfer.
The Argentian winger is just 25 years of age and still has a lot of time to improve further as a player. Moreover, with his recent spark of form this season, the player could a very handy singing for Manchester United FC, who aim to compete for the Premier League in the coming seasons. However, the Premier League club do have a battle on their hands to sign the player, with Real Madrid also desperate to sign a new winger in the summer.
