Manchester United FC are reportedly looking to complete their squad overhaul this summer transfer window with a couple of signings. Manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is in the lookout of another centre-forward to add to his squad depth, even after signing Ighalo till January 2021. The Red Devils are reportedly keen on getting the services of Torino striker and talisman Andrea Belotti.
Belotti is Torino’s captain and he looks to be the only shining star in a bleak and mediocre Torino side. But signing the Italian wouldn’t be easy as Inter Milan are also interested in signing the striker and want to bolster their squad as well. Even Torino will not let go of their captain and talisman easily and will be hard to negotiate with.
The Italian has played 32 games in the Serie-A this season and has scored 16 goals and provided three assists. In all competitions this season, Belotti has played 40 games in which he has scored a combined tally of 22 goals. With great performances in the Serie-A, Belotti might be looking to take a step up in his career and move on from Torino.
United are no short of strikers with Martial, Rashford, Greenwood and Ighalo all coming good whenever needed. Martial has taken the onus on himself to be the main centre-forward of the Red Devils and has rewarded Solskjaer’s trust. The Frenchman has scored 22 goals in all competitions this season with 17 goals in the Premier League, without scoring a penalty.
But other than Ighalo, United don’t have a centre-forward, if Martial gets injured. Greenwood is only 18-years old and is not yet ready to play as the centre-forward in the Premier League. Thus Solskjaer is looking to get in a striker this summer transfer window to add depth to the centre-forward position.
The Torino president is adamant about not letting of Belotti and has already turned down a bid of €40m from Fiorentina. With Belotti’s goalscoring prowess and his 26-year old age, United will be keen to secure his signature. Only time will tell if the Torino captain will move to Old Trafford transfer window.
