The Jamaican national team is hoping to convince Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood to join their team ahead of next year’s world cup qualifiers as reported by the Telegraph.
Greenwood was born and brought up in Bradford however his parents are from Jamaica. He made his senior international debut for England last September, however, is as yet qualified to switch as he is under 21.
The reports mention that Jamaica’s manager, Theodore Whitmore, wants to build a strong team. Now Whitmore is trying to convince Greenwood to join Jamaica and switch his nationality.

But again he was not considered by Southgate for his Euros squad after Greenwood suffered an injury. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be pleased to see his player getting the much-desired rest ahead of their pre-season training before the start of next season.
For United fans, Greenwood getting a rest from football after a busy season is absolutely welcome and now, with the possible signing of Borussia Dortmund winger, Jadon Sancho, there will be less pressure on Greenwood for his performances.
But the case is different when he plays for England. With England, there is intense rivalry for places. Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has attempted to get into Southgate’s current starting XI in this current summer’s Euros, while Sancho on the other wing has additionally brought in strong rivalry.
The main striker for England, Harry Kane likely could be their guaranteed starter for a few years. For Greenwood, the question to ask is whether he will get the game-time he wants. With Jamaica, he unquestionably would get the game-time he needs.
