Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has highlighted the lack of quality in the team as one of the main reasons for his team’s inconsistent run this season.
The Red Devils have been quite shaky this season and have had a mix of good and bad results so far. They have failed to win two back-to-back Premier League games so far against Sheffield United and Aston Villa.
The victory against Norwich City back in October ended Solskjaer’s seven-month-long wait for a Premier League away win but there is still plenty to be done in order to guarantee the job for the Norwegian.
However, the 29 year old David de Gea is now become one of the senior figures at Manchester United now after having joined the club from Atletico Madrid nearly 10 years ago The Spaniard has been one of the best players for the red half of Manchester during this decade but off late even his performances seem to have dropped.
But after the 3-3 draw against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane earlier this week, De Gea has insisted that United need to win those type of games and try and string together a bunch of positive results, “The team is what it is, and results are what they have been recent. It’s true that the first half was horrible, probably one of the worst this year. The reaction of the team in the second half was important, but it’s not enough. We should win these type of games to be on top, we need to win four or five games in a row to be at the top, but at the moment the team is not playing so well.
De Gea also explained that United need to step up their quality in certain areas of the pitch, “We’re giving it everything, we’re trying to get those big wins that can put us high up in the table, but the truth is at the moment we’re not consistent enough, there’s much to train and much to improve. I don’t think it’s through any lack of effort; the boys are leaving everything out on the field in training and games. You could point maybe to a lack of quality in certain areas, but certainly not a lack of fight.”
