Manchester United defeated Tottenham 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to win a terrific game of football. It was a game of great composure and determination as United came back to seal the win.
United were pretty good in the first initial first-half minutes as they controlled possession and were quick in their passing as well. Things were not working so well for Tottenham until the 40th minute.
United went ahead after Cavani found the back of the net after a great move by Pogba. United was clear to get the goal only for the referee to intervene and check the proceedings on the controversial VAR. Son was lying on the pitch holding his face and Tottenham players complaining of a foul where all the activities on the pitch. On monitoring, the referee awarded a foul as he detected a foul on Son as Scott McTominay was found guilty of knocking him on his face.
Many subjected the call of the referee to be utter foolish as it was not as harsh as it was looking. But then Tottenham poured salt into United’s wounds as Son scored just in the 40th minute after a quick goal as he defeated Henderson to find the corner of the net. Manchester United went into the second half with a goal behind.
Solksjaer’s side came up strongly in the second half. They were very much enthusiastic about going ahead. Fred playing a good pass to Cavani as he had a shot saved from Lloris. Fred then pounced on the saved ball and scored for United. United then went ahead in the 79th minute after a great header from Cavani. Fernandes releasing Greenwood who fired a low cross to Cavani who then ran between two Spurs defenders to score the second goal for United.
Lamella then came close to a leveler for Spurs as he hit the post. But Tottenham then received a blow as Greenwood scored a prolific goal after some neat work from Pogba to score in the late 90th minute to seal the win for the Reds.
Our analysis of this exciting contest: United must not let Cavani leave:
How on earth does Cavani always find a way to score crucial goals for United? Cavani has been the perfect center-forward for United. Be that it may, He has rescued United a number of times. You can see that in the Southampton game or in the Europa League or you can see it in this match. He has been a perfect forward for United.
Always ready to run ahead, munching between defenders, solid in the air, neat in his passing, and very experienced indecisive times. This is what everyone wants in a striker. Scoring 150+ goals for PSG was not a joke and he has proved that why he once was a killer striker in Europe. As his age stands, many will rule him out but he has proved it time and again that he is crucial for United.
United should act in every way possible to keep him at Old Trafford.
Pogba being world-class again:
Pogba once again was solid in this win over the Spurs. His passing was neat, skills were out of this world, quick dribbling. He was a constant threat for Reguilon over the flanks. His assist for the Greenwood goal was sublime.
It was a commanding show by the midfielder and United knows how valuable the player is for the team. Any rumors of him leaving should be brushed aside now as we all know that now United will certainly provide a fresh contract to Pogba. And after this solid performance, even the rival defenders will be grinding their teeth when confronting him on the pitch.
VAR- A house of shittery:
We all bet that the United goal shouldn’t have been disallowed. The risen arm by McTominay was just a natural arm movement to make sure that Son doesn’t disturb his movements. But the clear antics by the Spurs player on the pitch was an utter nuisance and the referee further supported it by disallowing the goal. Every other Pundit was surprised by this call and even Solksjaer.

Such comments surprised everybody and also the decision of disallowing the goal. VAR has been making so many miserable calls and we have seen it many times. It’s looking as if it is making football a non-contact sport.
Manager’s words after the match:
Solksjaer said while speaking to the Man United official site: “That kick-started us. Before the goal, we had played like a team who had played in Europe on a Thursday night. Top reaction, we played some great stuff second half. We felt the injustice and we showed good character to come back. We can’t let those decisions ruin this good season for us.”
What’s next:
