Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has admitted that United ‘need to go back to the drawing board’ in order to beat Liverpool when Premier League action resumes after the international break.
The Red Devils suffered a humiliating 1-0 loss to Newcastle last Sunday and are now still searching for their first away victory this season.
Despite the result, a major positive for United would have been the performance of Axel Tuanzebe who started alongside record signing Harry Maguire at center-back after Victor Lindelof picked up an injury in the midweek 0-0 draw against AZ Alkmaar.
This follows after Tuanzebe was surprisingly named the captain in the Carabao cup game against Rochdale.
The 21-year-old told MUTV: “We go back to the drawing board, the international break [is] now time for us to regroup. We believe in what we’re doing, in time it will come.
‘It’s a brutal game. It wasn’t a tippy-tippy game; no matter what age group.
‘Obviously coming here to the first team, I expect more of the same. It will be a game where we need to grind it out and stick together and produce a result.’
Manchester United are languishing 12th in the Premier League table, and are just two points clear of the relegation zone. Their old rivals Liverpool meanwhile are sitting at the top of the table and are 8 points clear of Manchester City after City suffered a shock 2-0 home loss to Wolves.
