Turkish powerhouse Besiktas interested in re-signing Wout Weghorst on loan

According to The Sun, Turkish powerhouse Besiktas are interested in re-signing Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst on loan.

The Burnley striker was on loan at Besiktas for the first part of the season. He was outstanding for the Turkish club as he scored nine goals and provided four assists in 18 games.

United ultimately decided to sign him on a temporary loan deal in January. Besiktas received compensation to end their loan agreement before he transferred to Old Trafford. Burnley will probably prefer a permanent transfer, although it’s been said that Besiktas may offer the former Wolfsburg striker another loan deal.

Although Weghorst has impressed with his work rate and movement in the final third, he has found it difficult to consistently contribute to goals.

The 30-year-old has only managed to score twice and provide three assists despite starting in 20 of his 21 games for the Red Devils this season. Recently, Erik ten Hag said that Weghorst might be signed permanently, but United might be better off losing the striker.

Over the past three months, the Dutchman has squandered seven significant opportunities, and the team obviously needs to replace him before the upcoming season. Anthony Martial might serve as a future backup option but his injury issues are a major concern.
