Manchester United FC are keen to add on to the quality and depth to their midfield after securing Champions League football next season. The board is trying to get a good and versatile midfielder but don’t want to overpay for the player. Thus, the Red Devils have reportedly cooled their interests in Jack Grealish after Aston Villa asking £80m for their captain.
Jack Grealish has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since January and reportedly Solskjaer likes him. Grealish is Aston Villa’s captain and their talisman, being one of the biggest reasons for their Premier League survival. The mesmeric dribbler has racked up some huge numbers in the Premier League this season, in a bleak Aston Villa side.
The 24-year old attacking midfielder has played 36 games in the league this season, scoring eight goals and assisting six more. He has also been named the player who has progressed the ball the most in the league this season. Grealish can also play on the wings but the Englishman prefers to play in the No.10 role behind the striker.
It was his goal on the last day of the season, which gave Villa a point against Arsenal. Aston Villa were out of the relegation zone by just one point and were elated to stay in the Premier League for another season. But with the club staying in the tier of English football, their owners have drastically increased Grealish’s valuation.
United have cooled their interests in the midfielder though because of the £80m price tag the Villa board have put on him. Sighting the pandemic scenario, the £80m price tag will be too much to pay for United, especially after getting Sancho. Villa are hell-bent on keeping their captain, but it is believed he has his heart set at Old Trafford.
Grealish has done his best to keep his boyhood club in the Premier League and deserves a move to a bigger club. But with such a huge price tag, no club might be able to get Grealish’s signature this summer. With over two months left in the transfer window, only time will tell if Jack Grealish makes it out of Aston Villa.
