United defender Eric Bailly in discussions with two Saudi Arabian clubs

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is currently in discussions with two Saudi Arabian clubs for a potential summer transfer, as reported by Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth.

During the previous season, the Ivory Coast international was on loan with Marseille in the French top flight. However, his playing time was limited to only 23 appearances due to a combination of a long-term suspension and injuries.

Last summer, Marseille had a conditional obligation to buy Bailly, but the clause was not activated as the centre-back didn’t meet the required number of appearances.

Now, Bailly is likely to seek a new club after being excluded from United’s pre-season tour in the United States. According to Dharmesh Sheth, he is currently in negotiations with two Saudi Arabian teams.

A contract offer has been made to the former Villarreal player, amounting to £20 million for a three-season deal (£128,000 per week). Cristiano Ronaldo has personally spoken to Bailly, sharing insights about the league and the lifestyle in Saudi Arabia.

Today, Al Nassr confirmed the signing of Alex Telles from United for a reported fee of £6 million. The left-back had spent the previous season on loan with Sevilla in La Liga, and his departure has provided a financial boost to United.

Now, Bailly is currently in talks with Al Nassr, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they also sign him. Bailly had a close relationship with Ronaldo during the latter’s return to United.

Bailly originally joined Man United from Villarreal for £30 million seven years ago, but the club has now set a price tag of just £2 million. However, with interest from Saudi Arabia, the Red Devils might be aiming for a higher fee.

Apart from Bailly, Anthony Elanga is also set to leave Old Trafford soon. The young forward is expected to undergo a medical with Nottingham Forest ahead of a £15 million transfer.
