United develop fresh interest in Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko

According to the German publication, Bild, Manchester United has developed a fresh interest in Borussia Dortmund’s young striker Youssoufa Moukoko.

With six goals and six assists from 21 games across all competitions, the 17-year-old has been a revelation for the Bundesliga team this season.

Dortmund wants him to sign his first professional contract as he turns 18 next month, but Bild notes that this is no longer a simple option. The German team has offered Moukoko a salary of €5 million per year, but the teenager is now aiming for €7 million to pledge his future to them.

In the meantime, the player’s father and agent Patrick Williams are at odds, and the English teams are attempting to intervene in the process. In an effort to profit from the situation and sign the player under Dortmund’s nose, any team would need to offer Moukoko an attractive salary. It would be tricky as the Unique Sports Group and Mino Raiola’s group are among those involved in the striker’s contract talks.

Currently, Moukoko’s contract will end in June 2023. In January, the star valued at €30 million can enter negotiations with overseas teams. Manchester United are one of the teams interested in having his services.

When Moukoko made his Dortmund debut two years ago at the age of 16, Erling Braut Haaland’s accomplishments at the club took centre stage, and Moukoko faded into the background.

However, after Haaland’s departure, the Germany Under-21 international has stepped up for Dortmund with an amazing 12-goal contribution this season. Dortmund wants to guarantee his long-term future with them when he becomes 18, but since he hasn’t signed a professional deal, the young player is in the driver’s seat.

For the upcoming talent, United should be a rewarding destination. The Red Devils can easily meet his wage demands as well as any other compensation, including agent fees.

Moukoko has the potential to develop into a world-class player in the future, and Erik ten Hag is rumoured to be on the lookout for a long-term striker.

This would allow Moukoko to grow under Ten Hag’s guidance without being under any pressure to perform.
