United have dispatched scouts to watch Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has dispatched scouts to Portugal to monitor the progress of Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos since the club plans to add a striker during the forthcoming transfer window.

The 21-year-old has been in excellent shape for the Portuguese side. But, the striker’s current deal with the Primeira Liga team includes a €120 million release clause.

Ramos is also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The French giants were looking to hire his services this summer. Other than them, a few other teams are also targeting the Portuguese star.

When speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano disclosed that the Red Devils were keeping tabs on the 21-year-old. United have been keeping an eye on his progress with the motive of signing him this summer.

Ramos progressed via Benfica’s youth ranks and he made his senior squad debut during the previous season. Darwin Nunez served as the club’s main striker before departing for Liverpool.

The 21-year-old has taken the prime role this season after the Uruguayan moved to Anfield last summer. The Portuguese striker attracted a lot of attention with his World Cup 2022 performances.

The striker has made 31 appearances for the Primeira Liga team this season in all competitions. In addition to his eight assists, he has scored 19 goals himself.

Under Erik ten Hag, United have been forced to rely on Marcus Rashford to carry the load of the attack. None of our other forwards, excluding the 25-year-old, have made a significant impact in the last third.

Ramos could be a vital addition to the squad and together with Rashford, he can contribute with a lot of goals for Ten Hag’s side.
