According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have enquired about Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, two rivals in the Premier League, are also interested in signing the 26-year-old. The Nerazzurri could currently ask around £35 million to get go of their defender.
Under Louis van Gaal, Dumfries is anticipated to display his talent in Qatar. Additionally, the Serie A giants can increase their asking price if the Holland international does well at the World Cup.
The 26-year-old left PSV Eindhoven for Inter Milan in the summer of 2021. He has since developed into a key member of Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri team. Dumfries has primarily played for the Italian team as a right-wing-back. And in the group stages of the Champions League this year, the Serie A team shocked everyone by defeating Barcelona to go to the knockout stages.
Diogo Dalot has been United’s right-back for the majority of the season. The Portugal international has been chosen by Erik ten Hag above Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
In Manchester, the former Crystal Palace star has had a difficult few months. Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left the Old Trafford dugout, he has not regularly featured for the Red Devils.
Unfortunately, the defender’s injury hasn’t helped his situation either; it has kept him sidelined for a long time. Dalot has consequently had to carry the weight in the starting lineup. This season, the 23-year-old has started each game for United. However, squad depth will be crucial given that we have the World Cup and a busy campaign ahead of us.
