Bruno Fernandes’ superlative run of form in the Manchester United colours has led to the Portugal international being subject to lavish praise from club legend Paul Scholes, with the former United midfield star saying that Fernandes was a better player than he was during his days at Old Trafford.
Such words of acknowledgement for Fernandes from a Manchester United icon come on the back of the former’s red hot form in front of the goal as the main talisman for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
The ex-Sporting Lisbon man was in fine form once again during Manchester United drawing their recent Premier League fixture at the King Power Stadium against Leicester City as he set up Marcus Rashford’s opening goal of the match before finding the back of the net on his own late on in the second half.
Having been an outstanding presence in the Red Devils XI since his move to Old Trafford earlier this year, Fernandes’ superb run of displays were applauded by Scholes ahead of Solskajer’s men playing hosts to Wolves on Wednesday.
“What he’s doing is phenomenal, really,” Scholes said to ManUtd.com.
“Well, you thought it was a bad start to the season, but they’re still right in there and I think they can only get better.
“The numbers he’s produced are just ridiculous, let’s hope he carries on.
“He’s better than me. He’s different to me. He scores more goals than me, he creates more goals than me.
“I’d like to play with him, probably behind him would be alright. But no, he’s been sensational, a big difference.
“I think before he came to the team, United could hardly create a chance with some of the stuff they were playing, but now they look like they can score three, four or five goals every game.”
With ten goals and six assists in 14 outings so far this season in top-flight football, Fernandes remains perhaps the most influential attacking presence in the first-team ranks at Old Trafford as the 20-time league champions aim to go top of the table with an impressive run of performances heading into the new year.
