According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United is keeping an eye on Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz and has sent scouts to watch the Chilean international.
The Premier League has long been a fan of the 23-year-old and the Red Devils are linked with a move for the striker. But West Ham United are also the front-runner to sign the forward.
Prior to the upcoming transfer window, United are trying to strengthen their attacking line-up by signing a new striker. Some supporters are currently concerned about the number nine spot.
Under Erik ten Hag, Anthony Martial was a regular player for the majority of the preseason. And throughout the friendlies, the France international has displayed superb play. However, the 26-year-old’s chances have been limited in recent times due to injury. The French striker has scored or assisted when he has played. Unfortunately, he hasn’t made many appearances lately.
On the other hand, the Dutch manager has not prioritised starting Cristiano Ronaldo throughout the current season. In the Premier League, the Portugal international has not made many starts. He has had trouble scoring goals this year as well.
Ten Hag’s initial pick for the centre-forward position has been Marcus Rashford. The 25-year-old is our leading scorer so far this season and just scored his 100th goal for the Old Trafford team.
However, despite the England international’s poise in front of the goal, some supporters are not convinced by his finishing skills. Brereton Diaz has scored nine goals in 20 games for Blackburn in the Championship in all competitions. The Chilean attacker is a versatile player who can play in the number 10 position as well as out wide.
However, he has never competed in the English top division. The 23-year-old appears to be a capable team player, therefore supporters are open to the Red Devils taking a chance on him.
