United looking at Kasper Schmeichel as goalkeeping alternative

David De Gea has had another torrid season between the sticks, making mistakes that have been critical for the Red Devils. The United No.1 has made some grave errors this season, something that is not expected from someone of his calibre. The Red Devils are keen to get in a suitable replacement for the Spanish goalkeeper and are currently looking at Kasper Schmeichel.

The Leicester City goalkeeper is the son of United legend Peter Schmeichel, who is the United’s second-highest clean-sheet holder in the Premier League. The Leicester City No.1 has seen his dad pick up five Premier League titles at Old Trafford and thus loves United. The 33-year old is considering his future at Leicester City and might be on the move this summer.

Schmeichel’s team-mate in his Manchester City days, Bischoff, has said that “Schmeichel is a huge United fan. He always has been and always will be, it will be the biggest dream come true if he were to succeed (in joining United).” He has also gone on to state that “If Kasper gets the opportunity to play just ten games for United, then he jumps. It’s simply so big for him. He is such a big fan that he will do anything to get to that club.”

Though it is very unlikely of the Red Devils to sign Kasper Schmeichel, who knows what to expect in the transfer window?
