Manchester United FC were in the lookout of a midfielder at the beginning of the summer and have gone on to sign Donny Van de Beek. With the signing of the Dutch midfielder the fan base though that the club would pursue other priority signings. But it is now being reported by The Sun that United are now monitoring the situation of Uros Racic from Valencia.
The Serbian international is a midfielder who plies his trade at Valencia and has a release clause of about £92m. The bob-to-box midfielder is a part of the engine room in the Valencia team but the team won’t shy away from selling him. With Valencia’s financial woes, it is believed that the Spanish club would sell him for about £28m, this summer.
It is being reported that United see Racic as the long-term replacement for fellow Serbian Nemanja Matic. Racic, aged 22 years, has a great work-rate and is tall and lanky like Matic with good passing abilities. United do need a long-term replacement for Matic but this summer might not be the time as the club already has a lot of midfielders.
Racic would be a good signing for the Red Devils, but the club would need to sell the deadwood out to create space for Racic in the squad.
