Manchester United FC and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have reportedly been keen on signing a centre-back this transfer window. Earlier it was reported that the Red Devils have had an interest in signing Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig this summer transfer window. It is now being reported by the Daily Star that United are willing to sell the likes Phil Jones and Chris Smalling to open space up for Upamecano.
Dayot Upamecano is considered as one of the best centre-backs in the world but signed a contract extension this summer. But United have lodged an interest in the French defender who is reportedly liked by Solskjaer. But getting him will be really difficult this summer as his release clause will only be valid at the end of next season.
United are trying to generate funds to sign Upamecano this summer by selling Chris Smalling and Phil Jones. The former has been heavily linked for a move to AS Roma and his sale looks very likely and will happen in the near future. Selling Phil Jones will be difficult for the Red Devils as the defender has been injured more often than not.
The Red Devils will have to do some really good business to get Upamecano, who is also eyed by a lot of other clubs.
