United monitoring Maxi Gomez of Valencia

Manchester United FC have been in the lookout of a centre-forward this transfer window to give Anthony Martial competition. The Red Devils signed Odion Ighalo on-loan till January 2021 but the striker has rarely featured for United since the restart. It is now being reported by Sports Witness that United are monitoring Maxi Gomez’s situation as Valencia are going through a tough phase.

Anthony Martial was fantastic last season as he finished as the highest goalscorer in the United side. The Frenchman has elevated his game to another level and has also been called up for the French squad for the Nations League games next month. But Solskjaer has been keen to add to his attacking department and also wants to give Martial competition.

Maxi Gomez of Valencia has been recently monitored by United, because of his attacking prowess and Valencia’s financial woes. Valencia have sold most of their star players to overcome the financial losses caused to their owners. Gomez scored 10 goals and provided four assists last season in all competitions and is contracted with Valencia till 2023.

The Uruguayan is reported to cost about €50-60m, as the likes of United and Barcelona are monitoring his situation with Valencia.
