United move ahead in the race to sign Jude Bellingham next summer

Manchester United has been a strong admirer of the 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund starlet from his days in Birmingham City. United tried to pursue the English midfielder to join Old Trafford when he was 16, but a late swoop by Dortmund turned the tide.

In April 2020, Sir Alex Ferguson was amazed by the young midfielder’s abilities and he, himself personally talked to Bellingham and his parents regarding his transfer.

Even Ole Gunnar Solksjaer was in close contact with him and Jude Bellingham was also given a tour of United’s vast training ground along with his parents.

As it was so close, it was highly likely that United will complete the transfer as Birmingham City was not asking for a big amount. However, the player changed his mind and made a late move to German giants Borussia Dortmund for a fee of around £25m.

Manchester City and Chelsea were also keen to sign the starlet but United was well ahead of the pack. Bellingham’s move to Borussia Dortmund eventually turned to be the best decision of his career as he has since turned out to be a fearsome midfielder in Bundesliga.

He has already bagged headlines for dominating the Champions League group stage match against Beşiktaş FC. He scored a goal and provided a sublime assist to make it an around performance.

As reported by Sun, Manchester United will be making his efforts count and are already favoring them to be ahead in the race to sign Bellingham next summer. But it seems that he is highly unlikely to leave next summer.

By looking at his development with the German giants, he will prefer to stay at Dortmund for many more years and establish himself as the best in his position. But whenever he will think about a move in the future, Manchester United will surely be the first name to come up in his mind.
