United needs to deal with Anthony Martial’s inconsistent performances

As reported by the Manchester Evening News. Manchester United urgently needs to replace Anthony Martial up front following the striker’s underwhelming Premier League performance against Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday.

Due to concerns about his injuries, the Frenchman has been in and out of the lineup this season. He has played in seven league games since his most recent comeback but has only recorded one assist.

The 27-year-old has struggled to find the net, and his performance last night, when the Seagulls prevailed via a penalty, was yet another lacklustre effort.

Martial clocked 84 minutes of action against Brighton but only managed one attempt on goal. He entered the box after a great one-two with Fred, but he shot straight towards the keeper.

Aside from this, he only made 17 passes and won only two of his seven battles. The Frenchman’s hold-up play was really subpar, as he lost possession nine times.

Erik ten Hag was furious with Martial at one point during the game, so it won’t come as a surprise if the striker sits on the bench when United travels to face West Ham United.

Martial has recorded seven goals and three assists in 1200 minutes for United, although the majority of those goals have involved him coming off the bench.

The £36 million has mainly been unproductive when he started matches for the Red Devils. It is obvious that United needs an improvement this summer.

The team needs a true goalscoring striker if they want to seriously fight for the league title. United is currently exploring moves for Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, and Randal Kolo Muani.

Osimhen is most likely the ideal choice for a goal scorer, but Muani would be a better choice if Ten Hag wants more originality out of his main striker.

Kane’s potential transfer also cannot be ruled out as the Englishman is admired by Ten Hag. He is well known for his long history of scoring goals in English football.
