The Sun has reported that Manchester United may try to sign Patrik Schick as they look for a potential goal scorer in the market.
The Red Devils have struggled to score goals after making significant summertime investments. And Erik ten Hag wants access to sufficient resources.
While Marcus Rashford’s lacklustre finishing hasn’t helped much, Jadon Sancho hasn’t got many opportunities to make an impact on games. At United, there hasn’t been a natural goal scorer aside from Cristiano Ronaldo. Therefore, signing someone like Patrik Schick seems like a wise decision.
The 26-year-old has made a name for himself as one of the league’s top goal-scorers. And should Ronaldo leave Old Trafford, Schick might make the perfect stand-in. Ten Hag has already made it clear that he won’t pursue household names and will only pursue players who might be held accountable for their actions. Furthermore, as long as the former Ajax manager is in charge, the signing process will see some major changes.
Manchester United may also boost up their efforts to part ways with Ronaldo if he continues to create issues with the club.
Schick remains committed to Bayer Leverkusen until 2027. Furthermore, the dominant Bundesliga clubs would not be in a rush to agree to fresh terms with the 26-year-old striker.
Despite his lacklustre performance this season, the Red Devils are aware of his potential and are prepared to use him if necessary. Manchester United has been keeping an eye on Lille striker Jonathan David and Lyon’s Moussa Dembele because they don’t want to focus on just one player.
A spot in the top four this season would provide them greater room to make moves as they regain their form in the Premier League.
