United put on red alert for James Rodriguez

Manchester United FC have been put on red alert due to the availability of Columbian midfielder James Rodriguez this transfer window. United have been long admirers of the Columbian as he is set to leave Real Madrid this transfer window. James feels left out by Zidane and has only featured only eight times for the Los Blancos in La Liga this season.

The Red Devils have been linked with James for a long time, and even Sir Alex tried to sign him. Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to sign James way back in 2010 when he was tearing up the Portuguese league. But, a move to United never materialized and after an amazing World Cup, he moved to Real Madrid in 2014.

Sighting his lack of chances at Real Madrid, James moved to Bayern Munich on-loan for a couple of years. At Bavaria, he did well playing 67 matches, scoring 15 goals and setting up 20 more, including one against Real Madrid. Bayern denied signing him permanently and now James warms the bench at the Spanish capital under Zidane.

James has only features for Real Madrid 14 times this season and has only provided a goal and two assists. The Columbian can play in different positions including attacking midfield, left-wing and right-wing, because of his great passing and crossing. But, he is most efficient and lethal while playing a No.10 role because of this accurate and creative passing.

United have been told of James’s availability, but the Red Devils will only move forward with a small price tag. James has only one year let in his contract and has several other suitors in Atletico Madrid and Everton as well. The Red Devils are reportedly in the lookout of a creative midfielder and are linked to Jack Grealish as well.

James Rodriguez will turn 29-years old a couple of days later, which will be out of Solskjaer’s age bracket. But with a cut-short price tag of about £20m, United might be tempted to get the services of the Columbian. James has been quiet for a couple of seasons now and it will be a shame if never reaches his potential.

Despite his age, the Columbian magician has a lot to prove and must be hungry for game time. It will be intriguing to see if the Columbian ever wears a Manchester United shirt.
