According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United will be ready to target Brighton star Moises Caicedo next summer. The Ecuadorian midfielder was one of the players on Erik ten Hag’s wishlist but couldn’t join the Red Devils as the United board stepped back at the last minute.
The 20-year-old was signed by the seagulls in 2021 for a fee of just £4.5 million but his recent value has increased to £22.5 million. This would still be an easy deal to make since United splashed more than £60m to sign Casemiro in the transfer window.
Caicedo himself admitted that he is a big fan of Manchester United and would love to play for Old Trafford in the future. This could be another major advantage since it would not take huge efforts to lure him which was the exact opposite in the case of Frenkie de Jong.
The Barcelona midfielder was wanted by Ten Hag but the former Ajax star preferred to stay in the Spanish capital. It would require an astronomical fee to bring him to the theatre of dreams.
United’s current squad are stacked with midfield options but they could be looking forward to signing a young midfielder to command the team in the future.
Considering the fact that both Eriksen and Casemiro are in their 30s, it would make sense for the club to look for fresh legs in that zone.
