As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United has reportedly reduced their asking price for winger Anthony Elanga, as the player is deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
The 21-year-old Swedish talent progressed through United’s youth system and made his senior debut for the club in 2021. However, he has struggled for regular playing time, with only one start in the past six months, which occurred in a League Cup match against Charlton Athletic.
Additionally, Elanga has not featured in the Premier League since appearing for the last few minutes of United’s heavy 7-0 defeat to Liverpool. Initially, the Red Devils had planned to send Elanga on loan in order to secure more game time for him in the upcoming season.
However, due to his current situation within the club, they are now considering reduced offers for the winger. The Manchester Evening News reports that United has lowered their price tag for Elanga to £10 million, down from the previous valuation of £20 million.
If Elanga decides to leave the club in the summer, his last appearance for the club is likely to be the Europa League match against Sevilla in April, where they were eliminated.
It is not anticipated that he will feature in the FA Cup final on Saturday. Over the past two years, Elanga has made 55 appearances for United, scoring four goals, including one in the Champions League knockout stages against Atletico Madrid in February 2022.
Most of his starts occurred during Ralf Rangnick’s interim tenure as manager in the 2021-22 season. However, since the arrival of new manager Erik ten Hag, Elanga has found himself squeezed out, with other left-sided wingers being preferred.
Elanga is not the only player who may depart from United this summer, as the club is expected to have more outgoing transfers than new signings.
In addition, midfielder Fred has attracted interest from Fulham, as he was spotted talking with Marco Silva, Fulham’s manager, after their Premier League match on Sunday.
