United set to make their first signing of the summer

Manchester United FC, under Solskjaer, have made the signing and development of youngsters an utmost priority, just like old days. The club has been in the lookout of talented youngsters who are talented and have the potential to reach the top. The Red Devils have are set to make their first signing of the summer with the 17-year old Alvaro Fernandez of Real Madrid.

Fernandez is a Spanish prodigy from Real Madrid’s academy, who plays as a left-sided full-back. The youngster joined Real Madrid in 2017 from Deportivo La Coruna and has since then shined for the academy. He is held in very high regards, because of his similarity in attributes with the Real Madrid legend Marcelo.

Fernandez is very quick, has a good physique and is great going forward, resembling Marcelo and Roberto Carlos. The Spanish youngster failed to agree on terms with Real Madrid, with whom his contract expired on the 30th of June. The Red Devils are set to complete the free signing of Fernandez in the next few days and the youngster is looking forward to the move.

Alvaro Fernandez will join the United reserves next season, with an odd chance of joining training with the first team squad. He is keen to move to Old Trafford as he sees his short and medium-term future in England. United will be eager to have him and will offer him a faster route to first-team football than Real Madrid.

With his arrival, Ethan Laird might be moved up to train with the first-team squad permanently, as he has been doing so lately. The Red Devils are in no shortage of full-backs with Wan Bissaka, Shaw, Williams, Dalot and Fosu-Mensah. But it is reported that United are looking to sell Dalot and will not loan out Fosu-Mensah if he doesn’t sign a long-term contract.

Shaw and Brandon Williams were both injured in the same game against Southampton, thus had to field Fosu Mensah against Crystal Palace. He is predominantly a right-back and so is Dalot, which emphasizes on the fact that United need another quality left-back. Fernandez is set to move on from Spain and only time will tell how his career pans out in England.
