As stated by the club’s official website, Manchester United star Casemiro turned into his usual best for Brazil as they comfortably defeated Serbia by a 2-0 scoreline yesterday.
In the star-studded Brazil team, United’s number 18 comfortably dominated the midfield region. The former Real Madrid star played his fifth match at the World Cup and rounded it off with a brilliant all-rounded display.
The 30-year-old was given the responsibility of securing the Selecao’s defence and holding Tite’s team together with Raphinha, Neymar, Vinicius Junior, and Richarlison in front of him. Casemiro on his 66th cap, came so close to scoring his sixth goal for his nation.
The midfield enforcer nearly beat former Red Devils goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic with a first-time shot from the edge of the box that rattled the crossbar. The former Los Blancos midfielder, who played in the game wearing number five, had 77 touches overall and completed 56 of his 66 passes with an accuracy rate of 86%.

In addition to creating two chances, Casemiro gracefully interrupted the Serbian’s move. Along with two clearances, three tackles, and one shot block, he won five duels.
In the second half, his United teammates Fred and Antony made their World Cup debuts off the bench. The world’s top defensive midfielder, who is also possibly the best, put up yet another commanding display for his national side.
Brazil is one of the favourites to win their sixth World Cup in Qatar, and Tite’s team will have a strong chance of winning it all if Casemiro continues to play at his dominant best.
