It’s no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo is unhappy with the way things are going for him at Manchester United right now.
The 37-year-old, who asked to leave the Premier League giants in the summer, appears to be getting his wish in January after making just one league start this year.
According to the Manchester Evening News, if his transfer wish is granted, a transfer to MLS club Inter Miami may be an attractive option for the Portuguese striker.
Former Ronaldo teammate, Gonzalo Higuain, who recently declared his retirement from football, has already signed with the Florida-based club. But Ronaldo would be on an entirely different level, given that he is still recognized as a very exceptional player despite his advanced age.
Although it is unknown if the forward would be interested in moving to the United States, Inter Miami is reported to have expressed an interest in signing him.
However, the source implies that a transfer would only be permitted if Ronaldo is allowed to leave for free. Manchester United is likely to demand a small fee, with £10 million being suggested as the ideal sum by some sources.
The competition to sign one of the biggest talents in sports will undoubtedly heat up as the year draws to a close. Miami isn’t likely to be the only team interested in signing Ronaldo this winter.
The 37-year-old was benched during United’s humiliating 6-3 loss to rivals Manchester City last weekend, putting an end to any hopes of him regaining a spot in Erik ten Hag’s starting XI.
The Portuguese superstar didn’t play a second, which was an obvious sign of where he currently stands in the pecking order. Since January is typically difficult for transfer-related business, it’s difficult to witness United letting Ronaldo leave for free.
