According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia has been absent from the field for several months due to knee surgery.
The Dutch player has not been in action for the Red Devils since the last Premier League match of the previous season, which took place at Old Trafford against Fulham.
Furthermore, he was also not involved in any of the club’s preseason matches, and it has now come to light that his absence is due to a knee operation.
The left-back experienced a knee issue towards the end of last season. The Red Devils initially attempted to address it with pain-relieving injections, but surgery became necessary.

It is expected that Malacia will make his return before the start of the New Year. Despite a promising start to his United career last season, his performance and consistency dipped in the second half of the campaign.
The knee injury is believed to have contributed to his struggles, particularly in terms of his ability to track back, making him less effective during the final months of the season.
While there is an expectation that Malacia will return to action prior to January, he should not be hurried back into play.
Man United possesses ample depth in the left-back position. They secured the loan signing of Sergio Reguilon to address the gap, and the Spaniard has been recovering from a hamstring injury, expected to be fit for the away match against Sheffield United.

Luke Shaw has been sidelined for several weeks but is likely to make his return around November. Hence, it would be wise for the club to gradually reintegrate Malacia into the team after his recovery.
