There have been several Manchester United FC players who served their countries in the Nations League yesterday. Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof and Bruno Fernandes all played for their respective countries with Lindelof and Bruno starting the games. All the United players who played yesterday made sure to make it a point to prove Solskjaer their worth except for Victor Lindelof.
Mason Greenwood came late on in the second half for England as he made his senior debut representing his country. The 18-year old didn’t get a lot of time to make an impact as England won with a solitary goal against Iceland. Bruno Fernandes started for Portugal, and as usual, was amongst the major threats for his nation against Croatia.
The Portuguese midfielder found the key to unlock Croatia’s defence as he finished the game with an assist to his name. Surprisingly, Martial didn’t start for France as they faced Sweden, for whom Victor Lindelof started as centre-back. Martial came on in the second half and earned a penalty for France, with Lindelof bringing him down.
Although the penalty wasn’t converted, Lindelof has once again shown his defensive vulnerabilities. Solskjaer is looking to add to his centre-backs at United and Lindelof could be sacrificed because of his mistakes.
