As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have suffered a huge blow in their pursuit of signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Randal Kolo Muani after Bayern Munich ramped up negotiations to get the much sought-after Frenchman.
The Bavarians have intensified their attempts to sign the 24-year-old following their 3-0 defeat by Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal match on Tuesday.
The Germans have had to reevaluate their choices in light of the humiliating loss at the Etihad Stadium and the scandalous altercation between Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane in the locker room.
The Bayern officials are focused on signing a top-tier striker as a result of their failure to sign Robert Lewandowski’s replacement, which has undoubtedly cost them another European defeat.
It appears that Kolo Muani is their top priority for the upcoming summer transfer window, which could thwart United’s efforts to lure the ex-Nantes forward to Old Trafford. Kolo Muani played 38 times for Frankfurt this season with 19 goals and 14 assists to his name. He will likely have many high-profile opportunities to select from in the summer.
Kolo Muani’s contract expires in 2027, placing the German side in a strong position to demand a hefty price. Currently, they have placed a €100 million price tag on the young striker.
It is highly unlikely that the Red Devils will splash such a high fee for Kolo Muani. Meanwhile, United has also set its sights on one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
